Fundraising Success! New Website Live!
This is a very exciting day for us. The beginning of a new phase for head and neck cancer people in New Zealand. We welcome you to our new site. www.headandneck.network

You can join a regional group here. You will be able to contact and discuss with people in similar situations to yourself in your area.
It does not matter what stage of treatment you are, we have a discussion forum for before, during and after treatment. Just click here to join in.

Help in tracing head and neck cancers
THOUSANDS of family doctors are to be given free books to help them spot head and neck cancer in a bid to drive up diagnosis rates.
The guides aim to help doctors spot the different types of cancer that can occur in the head and neck – from more than 30 sites where the disease can start.
The books have been created by the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) and Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
Each of the UK’s 9,400 GP practices will get a copy, highlighting key signs to look out for and how to refer patients quickly. Alex Goodson, a specialist registrar in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Morriston Hospital near Swansea in Wales, co-wrote the book.
He said: “This is an invaluable resource for medical students and those in an established practice. The book is specifically designed to inform primary care clinicians about an area of healthcare that many may have had little training in.
“The treatment algorithms in the toolkit mean GPs will be able to recognise sinister features more easily, and make earlier referrals. I believe this will save lives and mean less aggressive, longer-term therapy for patients.”

We'd like to welcome all the head and neck cancer professionals to Auckland.
Please help us raise money for a new online community for head and neck cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones.
We are now at $1000. Another $1500 worth of pledges and we will have enough to run our website for three years. When we become a registered charity in the not too distant future, we will be able to attract bigger, tax deductible donations.
At this start up stage, we are relying on our good friend, Givealiitle.
Paying for the website month by month, we have it all ready to go but we would like to have a measure of financial security.
Release date, the great unveiling? Tonight or tomorrow. We will let you know.
